"Hardwood" is a 1157.2ha (2859.44 acre) rectangular shaped, freehold block located approximately 29km north east of Baralaba on the bitumen sealed Kokotungo-Donn Road. Baralaba is a small town on the Dawson River, approximately 77km north of Moura and 90km from Biloela. The major centre of Rockhampton is just 135km away. This is a rural grazing, mixed farming area and is serviced by a school, hospital and basic shopping. Two abattoirs are located in Rockhampton, with another one in Biloela. There are also live-weight cattle sale yards located at Moura, Biloela and Gracemere. Electricity and telephone are available to the property and a school bus services the area.
The land consists of heavier brown and black clay soils merging into light mixed forest and scrub soils. The property is watered by 4 open-earth dams (approx 10,000 cubic metres). One earth dam is equipped with a solar electric pump reticulating to one tank and three paddock troughs. The block is securely enclosed with conventional-style 4 barbed wire and timber post fences which are generally maintained in fair to good stock-proof condition. Internally the property is sub-divided into 5 internal paddocks of good condition.
The property has a set of older steel yards with a new loading ramp and yard area, drafting pound and head bail.
